PREP & SENIOR SCHOOL CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
“Education is a holistic endeavour that involves the whole person, including our bodies, in
a process of formation that aims our desires, primes our imagination and orients us to the
world.”
James
K.A. Smith
BMH's Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme aims to enrich and supplement the educational experience at Bromsgrove School Mission Hills.
Our CCAs commence from Pre School and continue through Prep School and Senior School. Our CCAs run for 50-55 minutes (and some for 90 minutes) from 3:45pm on weekdays. Our CCA programme allows students the opportunity to pursue a passion in greater depth, try something for the first time, or develop the fundamentals towards Elite Sports. We are delighted to offer high-quality CCAs in the 2021/2022 academic year, across Athletic, Language, The Arts and Innovation & STEAM domains.

Service Activities
Bromsgrove School Mission Hills is committed to the importance of service-learning, and engaging our staff and students in service-learning opportunities.
The philosophy of service-learning is that, by helping to make the world a better place for others, we, in turn, make the world a better place for ourselves. When we assist our family, friends, community and school out of the goodness of our hearts, we develop the virtue of compassion embedded within the five BMH Core Virtues: Ren, Yi, Li, Zhi, and Xin. We come to better appreciate our intrinsic value, and this cycle of positivity motivates us to achieve even more for ourselves and others.
Charity work is one way that we integrate student learning into our school culture. Our annual Movember charity fair is a great example of this process. Prep Senior students, divided into their four Houses - Black Pandas, Blue Whales, Red Tigers, and Silver Wolves - compete throughout November to see which team can raise the most money for a worthy cause. Their efforts, of course, are bolstered by all the male staff members who participate by growing moustaches.
Be it a developing rural school, an animal shelter or an environmental initiative, there is no shortage of worthy causes to support. In so doing, our students do not anonymously put money in an unmarked box, delivered to the outstretched hands of unknown people; they instead learn about new perspectives, invest themselves in unfamiliar cultures, and make connections that would have otherwise been out of reach.
Charity work is one form of service learning, but there are others. Having a campus filled with students ranging from Pre School to Senior School opens up powerful opportunities for our older students to work with their younger counterparts. It is always exciting to witness our more mature students inspiring young minds in a way that promotes academic and moral growth.
Embedded in the BMH curriculum, we have units on environmental sustainability and classes on Moral Education. We make every effort to reward and recognise students who demonstrate good character, either at weekly assemblies or through initiatives like our British Etiquette Lunches. We likewise engage in programmes such as the Model United Nations, to broaden our students’ worldview and extend them beyond the confines of their personal experiences.
We believe that by helping our students to develop a strong sense of self-esteem, a reliable moral compass, and the confidence to do what is right even when it is hard, we empower them to become critical thinking problem solvers and compassionate global citizens. To this end, Bromsgrove School Mission Hills is committed to a culture of service and will act to make a positive difference for those in need.
