School Description:

Bromsgrove School Mission Hills is planned as a co-educational, bilingual (English and Mandarin) through-train day school for students in Kindergarten to University entrance. Our partnership with Bromsgrove School, UK, brings the depth and breadth of expertise and knowledge a historically successful school affords, elevated with the passion and pioneering spirit of a newly established school. Our goal is to serve a growing number of Chinese nationals and expatriates in the Shenzhen region who have an interest in having their children attend a pre-eminent dual language internationally accredited school.

Our pupils follow a blended bilingual programme with English first language teachers and Chinese bi-lingual teachers in every class in the Pre-School (KG 1, 2 and 3) and the Prep-Junior School (Prep 1, Prep 2 and Prep 3). Following the successful model of excellence of our partner school, Bromsgrove School UK, from Prep 4 onwards pupils are taught by subject specialists following our blended curriculum. Chinese, Mathematics and Morality are taught using Chinese language. Humanities, Music and Musical Theatre use a blend of English and Chinese. Science, Computer Science, Design Technology, Art and PE are taught in English. As we progress to IGCSE and A' levels the pupils increasingly study in English in order to ensure they are well prepared for IGCSE examinations where the language used is English. Nevertheless, we still keep their Chinese language skills strong.

Situated in the world class Mission Hills Golf Resort of Mission Hills we have unparalleled sports partnerships which means as well as pursuing traditional sports such as athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, netball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, etc. we have partnerships with specialist world class providers in Golf, Tennis, Football and Ice Skating which enable us to provide elite level programmes in these sports.

Our campus is located on the property owned by Mission Hills and immediately adjacent to the Mission Hills resort in Shenzhen, China. By car, it is only 30 minutes from Shenzhen City Centre and Hong Kong Island just 2 hours from our door.

Position Overview:

With recognition that the Faculty and students at Bromsgrove School Mission Hills are the school's most valuable resource, we are seeking to appoint an exemplary pedagogical leader to continue to evolve our blended bilingual programme of learning at the School. The successful candidate is expected to support the school's Mission and Vision and will possess personal and professional qualities that lend themselves to excellence in leadership, communication and pedagogy. The three elements of intention, implementation and impact will underpin actions and initiatives that will define this position. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to develop curriculum and assessment, demonstrate and track student learning, communicate with clarity to parents, students and teachers and work cohesively within a dynamic leadership team.

Job Description:

Working with a dynamic expert team of Senior Leaders, the Assistant/Vice Principal ("Assistant or Deputy Head" in our BMH nomenclature) will focus on Teaching and Learning in our Prep Junior School, overseeing curriculum development, planning, pedagogy and PD for overseas and local teachers with a particular focus on Inquiry, Language, Maths and Social and Moral Education. Outstanding work ethic, knowledge, kindness and a sense of humour come top of the list of traits for this role.

Qualification:

  • University degree (BA/B.Sc) or equivalent (required)
  • Teacher Qualifications (B.Ed/M.Ed/PGCE/QTS) or equivalent (required)
  • Leadership Qualifications (M.Ed/ MA/ NPQH) or equivalent (preferred)
  • Native English speaker (preferred)
  • Have at least 2-year relevant experience (required)
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing (required)

Note: Contract starts from 1st of August 2020 with salary payments calculated from the same day; the successful candidate will be expected to arrive in mid August for the Orientation for new and returning staff. Students start school by the beginning of September.
